Friskier than Eric Morcambe and almost as handsome.

Hello world

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m going to try and get back into the blogging habit. I haven’t been much of a blogger for the last couple of years due to one thing or another, but I’ve recently started thinking about getting back in the habit, mostly so I can document the changes going on in my life right now.

You know, like leaving my old life in England and moving to a new continent, getting married, setting up my own business, building my first fixedgear bike. Small, easy stuff like that…

The site has recently been moved from its old neglected Textpattern installation to SimpleLog, an excellent Ruby on Rails-powered blogging platform written by Garrett Murray.

Why SimpleLog when there are so many other great content management systems out there? Like the name says—it’s simple. No muss, no fuss, no bloat, just a kick-ass system that lets me concentrate on what I want to say, as well as practice my Rails-fu.

Talk around these parts is likely to center mostly around life in Raleigh (hey, I’m new here – it’s still exciting), the web development business, films, music and my newfound cycling obsession.

There’s plenty of ideas in the pipeline so wish me luck.

I network socially at Virb, I keep track of the music I listen to using Last.fm, I post the pictures I take to Flickr, I list things I watch and read with All Consuming, I have a to-do list of sorts on 43things, and I post interesting things I come across on the interweb to del.icio.us.
