Greetings to those of you who found your way here, most likely after reading yesterday’s New York Times piece on my namesake, Josh Marshall.
I’m one of the other Josh Marshall’s of this world, and while I share the same political leanings as my more famous namesake, I’m not the recipient of a George Polk Award.
Around these parts we mostly waffle about nerdy stuff, my dog Hank and about life in Raleigh, but it’s good to have you here all the same.
Woofer

Let’s face it, there was going to be no way that I wasn’t going to share this with y’all as soon as I heard about it…

Apologies for the “woofer” headline too, I got excited.

Noisy neighbors

So, apparently, a local who needed to get rid of some live mortar shells decided that the best place to do that would be the local scrap metal depot.
Genius bit of thinking there, Curly.
From where I’m sitting in my kitchen, which isn’t all that close to said depot, the explosions that happen whenever the Army detonate another one of these things is strong enough to rattle the windows.
I’d hate to be living next door to the thing. I’ve had to put up with noisy neighbors before but this is ridiculous.
Super Tuesday

It doesn’t feel all that super after hearing about Sheldon, but it’s a huge voting day in the US.
People, you know what you have to do. Enough with the he said/she said bullshit already – get it done.

So long, Sheldon

Sheldon Brown – probably the nicest, most knowledgeable source of information on bikes and fixed gear stuff has died.
I owe pretty much everything I know and love about bikes to Sheldon and to Naz so I feel like I’ve lost a crazy uncle rather than a complete stranger who I never even spoke to. Sad day indeed.
Ride on, Sheldon, and thanks for everything.
Go Giants!

So tonight was the first Superbowl I’ve ever watched as a resident of the USA, and goddamn, how awesome were the last few minutes of that game?
I’m not a huge fan of the Patriots or the Giants, to be honest – basketball is still way more my thing (go Sonics!), but I was half-heartedly rooting for the Patriots just so they could have the perfect season. That said, the Giants killed it in the fourth quarter.
Eli Manning, you deserve every bit of praise that’s showered on you for the next l’il while. Outstanding.
