I rate Josh highly and recommend him. Josh is quietly and modestly brilliant.
Josh started as a front-end developer at GDS and went on to become our Head of Accessibility. I worked alongside him for 3 years and in that time I came to understand that he was a cornerstone of our team culture and values. Josh is the type of person you want in every team: he is competent, thoughtful, without ego and goes out of his way to help others.
He is technically very capable too. He was a leader on all things Accessibility and he earned the respect of his peers and senior colleagues alike. He was one of the first on the team that built GOV.UK and he made it his personal responsibility to champion the benefits of accessibility and acted as mentor to the rest of the team on best practice. He did that off his own back and he made accessibility a natural part of the way teams worked. In doing so, he helped change the culture of an organisation.
Josh also went on to promote the wider benefits and importance of accessibility within other Government departments. Josh demonstrated real leadership qualities by doing that. He is a good public speaker and also ably line managed a dozen or so developers.
